PositivelyOrphaned
My goal is to assist people who are interested in helping HIV positive orphans to find families. There are three main ways people can help these children integrate into families and out of orphanages, including: a) sponsorship of a child with a monthly stipend so their relatives can provide adequate care, b) promoting guardianship and foster care in the community for orphans with no living relatives, and c) through domestic and international adoption. This is not a non-profit organization and it does not solicit nor accept donations - it is a resource directory and a blog. Keep in mind while reading that I do not discriminate against religious people and organizations, homosexuals, people living with HIV & AIDS, etc. Feel free to contact me with any questions, information, corrections, feedback or comments.

Domestic Infant Adoption Situation

Potential domestic infant adoption situation. This baby will have a very small chance of being HIV positive. Let me know if you need contact information.

The birth mom is thirty-eight years old; she is a smoker, is clinically obese, and has been diagnosed as bipolar and HIV-positive. The baby is biracial Caucasian/African American, gender unknown, and due in February. The birth mother would like to have pictures and letters after the birth, and possibly an occasional visit, but she also knows that she has some real obstacles in finding adoptive parents, and she is being very open-minded and flexible. In terms of prospective parents, the birth mother asks only that they know the situation and are accepting of it. She is NOT making requests that they be childless, or live in a city, or whatever. She is very open, even to the possibility of a single parent.

The total fees for this adoption will be in the range of $15,000–$16,000, if the adopting family lives in Kansas. If the adopting family lives in another state, then the costs associated with retaining an in-state attorney (in the adopting family's home state) and ICPC (Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children) fees would be added.
